Daycare centers give little ones a head start in developing their social, physical, and cognitive abilities. Toddlers also experience being taught and guided by someone other than their parents.
Parents want the best for their children, especially when it comes to entrusting their toddlers to the hands of strangers. Qinghe from Henan province, China, was trusted by many and adored by her students.
Along with making her students feel comfortable with the environment, Qinghe gives them the love a mother would. Her kindness has been recognized by her manager and the daycare owners as well. She also likes to teach the children how to be good and kind, which the parents respect.
“I teach these youngsters to have a heart of kindness and think of others’ needs first when doing things. Seeing this, the parents have developed a lot of respect for me,” she wrote on Minghui.org.
Qinghe, alongside millions of other Chinese people, follows a practice of self-cultivation called Falun Dafa that was introduced to the public in 1992 and has since then expanded to all four corners of the world. She was 22 when she started practicing in 1997.
Practitioners of Falun Dafa place a major emphasis on the betterment of their moral character by following the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance. In addition, slow moving meditative exercises bring good health to its practitioners.
The three principles of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance remain present in Qinghe’s thoughts while caring for her students.
She also kept them in mind when one day she was faced with improper behavior by her students’ parents. In China, it’s a common thing for parents to give teachers gifts, “but is often meant to seek preferential treatment,” Qinghe explained.
“When one of the parents tried to give me a gift, I politely told her that I don’t accept gifts,” she wrote.
The mother was curious and asked Qinghe why she was different from the other teachers. Qinghe responded that she treats everyone with kindness because she practices Falun Dafa. The mother was shocked.
Around that time, the state media, as ordered by former CCP leader Jiang Zemin, began to broadcast a lot of negative propaganda about Falun Dafa.
Jiang was not happy with the popularity of the practice and was seeking to eradicate it, so the Chinese Communist Party’s propaganda was meant to justify what would become a brutal persecution of practitioners. Many Chinese people were fooled by the propaganda and formed negative opinions of Falun Dafa.
When Qinghe saw the woman’s shocked response she explained that “Falun Dafa teaches people to follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance and the things she saw on television were fabricated to defame Falun Dafa and cover up the persecution.”
Unfortunately, a few years after the persecution of Falun Dafa began in 1999, Qinghe fell victim to the CCP’s persecution and was arrested and sent to a detention center to be forced to renounce her faith.
“I was taken to a brainwashing center because I refused to give up my belief,” she said.
According to accounts of other former prisoners of conscience in China, the conditions in brainwashing centers are terrifying. As The Epoch Times reported in 2014, an elementary school teacher was viciously attacked in a brainwashing center and “tightly handcuffed to a cabinet and made to watch anti-Falun Gong propaganda videos.”
It is not known if Qinghe faced similar tortures, but she held firmly to her faith and was eventually released. After her release, the 6-10 office—an extra-constitutional organization that has been made responsible for eradicating Falun Gong—pressured her manager into removing Qinghe from her teaching position and giving her “odd jobs” instead.
Qinghe, a teacher who would once always be awarded with the “extraordinary teacher” title, was deprived of her recognition and teaching duties. It wouldn’t take long before Qinghe’s students started to miss their teacher.
One day, the owner of the daycare informed her of some good news. It was decided that she would have her teaching job back.
It turned out that all of Qinghe’s students’ parents had collectively written a letter to the person in charge because the children missed her. The letter had touched the heart of the head of her department.
Qinghe’s kind heart had made people look past state-run propaganda and misconceptions about her faith.
But when it came time to vote for the title of “extraordinary teacher,” Qinghe wasn’t allowed to be included in the list of candidates, due to the managers’ fears of being reprimanded for allowing a Falun Dafa practitioner to participate. Yet still her colleagues would enter her name on the ballot as they felt that “only [she] was qualified to carry that title.”
Remarkably, the head of the daycare who held her in high regard, said, “‘The upper-level management will not grant you the title of extraordinary teacher, and I cannot do anything about that. But here in our daycare center, I have the last word. I will rank you as an extraordinary employee every year!'”
Qinghe continued to teach her students well and abide by the three principles of her faith.
When a new head of the daycare was appointed some years later, Qinghe was again awarded with the “extraordinary teacher” title.
When the upper level management heard of the offer, they opposed the decision by saying that she practices Falun Gong.
What would you say was the new head’s response?
“What’s wrong with that? I only look at how well she does her job.”
